XYZ.co.uk :: The Training Company

Why does your site change so much and how do you do it so quickly?

A common question and one which we are asked regularly.

And the short answer is that, in addition to being a long and established real training company in our own right (catches breath…), we are also owned by a UK based digital media company who, amongst other things, build a lot of well known erm web properties (we’re told is the correct terminology).

Nowadays, people who operate a web site as an integral cog in their business operations generally know what they would ideally like to have on their site in terms of features and aesthetics – though perhaps lack the knowledge or understanding of how to do it themselves. This is where we are fortunate.

As much as the 1plus.net technicians love our weekly meetings (where we ask them to move the thing that is on the side of the page (we’re using hand gestures at this point) and make the thing that shows other stuff when you click on it go further up the page), the truth is, what these guys provide to us in terms of expertise, skill and ideas is invaluable, immeasurable and we look forward to their continual involvement and help as we continue to build XYZ.co.uk into the site we always dreamed of.

Andy from 1plus.net had this to say when I asked him for a comment:

Hi, Im Andy, one of the technicians / programmers for 1plus.net. I’ve really enjoyed working on the xyz project (and its strange that the original project codename also ended up being the sites’ real name – Bizarre huh?! – I like it, the name has grown on me and its totally unforgettable) :D . At 1plus.net it’s really cool, because its a great place to work and the diversity of work I get to do ensures that the day is never dull. On behalf of 1plus.net, I’ve worked on projects such as an advertiser network (adshack.com), on an auto site building website (domainpress.com), a domain parking platform (iMODO.com) as well as a hearing aid site, this training site and (as ive just been told) a site thats got something to do with plumbing…dont ask me… On a daily basis I get to speak with my peers and business associates at Google and at Yahoo (to name drop just a couple) and love the part that one minute Im dealing with technicians at some of the worlds largest web properties whilst the next I’m helping build a new bootstraps start up for the business and testing a new web application that one of the other 1plus.net techs has made.

Best part about this business for me is that we generally only work on web applications and platforms that are wholly owned by the company so, despite some of our project directors (mentioning no names ^ ) having little in the way of tech speak, the enthusiasm that always comes through is infectious and I’ve particularly enjoyed building and working on XYZ – I am also looking forward to taking it to the next step. We still have some way to go and I’m currently building a customer login suite, a freelance trainer login and we’re also scoping out building a course management area so that our training partners can really drill down when they organise their own training courses. As far as how we built the site, most of the front end is built around the free CMS, wordpress – and this was decided early on as it then made the adding of site content and scale much simpler whilst our project director got a clearer idea as to what he wanted. The main bulk of the work however is all custom built (including changing some of the wordpress core code – Ooer). The partner login suite and course booking stuff, including the ability to export the courses and forge relationships with other training providers is all built from the ground up – and we’re really pleased in the way it has performed thus far. I really like the white label websites that give the training companies a real, fully functioning website – for free and with no effort.. Anyhow, cheers for now, any comments give me a shout. Andy. andy.jackson@1plus.net”

We’ve identified all the training courses we need…. We think!?

Here at the XYZ towers, our researchers have narrowed down the top 1000 phrases, courses and terms that we, as a training outsource company, will focus on. If any of you guys out there believe that we are on the wrong track, as ever do please let us know at the usual address. Anyhow, here they are:

Oh, incidentally, if you are a training business and have not yet added your courses to our site, do feel free to grab your free account here

New Premium Partner Video – Just Out!

Hey everybody, we just released a new interactive video tutorial which describes how to get started using the site as a premium partner. The video can be found here and the script is below. Hope you enjoy it and we welcome any comments, good or bad.

This is going to be an interactive demonstration of “how simple it is” to get started on our site and how, with about 5 minutes work, you can immediately begin selling your training courses across hundreds of different websites and to thousands of potential new clients. This tutorial may be used as a reference or instructional tool and used for future reference. The features I am about to describe are of our premium alliance membership program, how our alliance program works and what benefit it provides to training companies who are looking to sell more courses and to gain better utilisation on those courses they already have taking place. This site is free to use for both our premium and gold alliance members and no fee will be charged for either using the services on our website or for advertising your training courses with us. Information on our Gold Alliance program and how this differs from the premium alliance is available on the Gold Alliance video and training companies may apply for either program using the contact links and telephone number displayed at the top of this page. Likewise, should there be any questions on how to join the premium alliance or, if there is anything in this presentation that isn’t quite clear, again do please call us on the number above or send us an email using the contact us page. For now, allow me to present to you the features and advantages you, as a training provider, will gain by becoming a Premium alliance training partner with XYZ.co.uk.

Some of the topics that I will cover in this introduction presentation include the basic site useage and the site administration – here I’ll describe for you how easy it is to create and edit your own company profile, how you can add additional administrators to your account and set their levels of access, how you add fixed training venues and course types to our system and how, once a new open training course in added to our database, that course immediately gets displayed across hundred of pages and websites on the Internet.

The “premium partner alliance” tutorial and accompanying video that follows this one will cover how premium alliance partners are able to book small delegate numbers onto courses operated by partners and how to simply and easily share the cost of training with our other premium alliance partners. This tutorial will also cover how you use certain technical data like our XML and API feeds for use on your own website, how our financial reporting system works and where your courses will be distributed.

Whilst the current aesthetics of xyz might change over time, the functionality has, and always will be, designed to be as simple and as easy to use as possible. As obvious as this might sound, most of the people visiting our site are primarily looking to source a company to provide them or their business with some form of training or distance learning program. From health and safety courses to catering and computing training, XYZ.co.uk receives hundreds of thousands of visitors a year – all looking for every type of training imaginable. The reason people use XYZ is because it gives them the comprehensive and detailed information they need whilst maintaining a clear and structured navigation. – An example of which might be the tiered drop down parent and sub category training menus on our home page and the training courses that print under their appropriate category. We like to think the use of our site is simplistic, comprehensive and effective. The mechanics and workings of XYZ.co.uk have also been heavily optimised in order to be extremely search engine friendly and this optimisation extends to that of our partners course pages, partner information pages and we even have a mobile version of the site for those accessing via their PDA’s or netbooks. Our highly optimised website means that your courses and locations will quickly make their way up the search engine rankings for the key search terms and training courses your business provides. And best of all, its all free.

OK, Let me now show you how to get started as a premium partner and how simple it is to not only begin using the site but also how making ongoing updates and edits to your account and your training courses are just a simple 5 minute job every time. For this presentation, I am going to sign in to a dummy account I created earlier. This will re-enact the same process that you will follow when you first sign on to your new premium partner administrator account. The name of the company I am going to use for this process is called “Sample Company” and to begin with I am going to login as the Head Administrator of the sample company account. I do so by using the same sign-up details I gave when I first created my user account. In this case and to make life easier Ive called the head administrator of Sample Company “Mr Head Administrator”. For your login, your actual name will be displayed here. Ok, whilst the system is processing my login credentials, I should point out that I have already added the basic details of “sample company” to this fictitious account in order to save a little time. Now that you can see I’m logged in, you will notice a number of things. Firstly, as you can see here, Mr Head Administrator is printed in the welcome message at the top of the screen along with his access level. You will also notice that the sample company name and logo is displayed at the top of the page. Adding a logo to your account is a very simple process and Ill show you how to do that in just a few moments time.

Being logged in as the head administrator of Sample Company means that my access level on the site is set to the highest level – this is what we call our tier 3 admin level or, as you can see, the premium partner and administrator for this account. The tabs here at the top of the page include every feature and site setting available to a tier 3 administrator – which is basically everything. Some of these navigational links here, such as the company profile, partner suite, user manager and the XML settings tab don’t appear and are completely inaccessible to any additional administrators that you subsequently add to your account. The reason for having this tiered admin structure is so that some premium training partners can have additional administrators managing and controlling the day-to-day operations of their account whilst not exposing the entire company account to any potential abuse. You may create any number of additional tier 1 and tier 2 admins to your account – though any additional tier 3 administrators will need to be created by the team here at XYZ.co.uk..Simply drop us an email and we’ll set this up for you straight away. Tier 1 and tier 2 administrator creation is a simple process which you can do yourself and ill also show you how to do that in a few moments time.

Before I do however, lets explore some of these other tabs at the top of the page in a little more detail. First up, allow me to show you, as mentioned previously, how I created the profile for “sample company”. This is done via the company profile tab here. If I go ahead and enter this page, you can see that most of the fields required are self explanatory. Your company logo can also be uploaded on this page, you may include your company web address and your company email as well as writing the basic information about your company such as how long you have been established or name some of the prestigious clients you have worked for in the past. All this can be entered in the profile field here and what you write is completely up to you. The information you include here will be displayed to visitors that may be interested in you or in one of your courses so Its important therefore to ensure that the details are correct. In particular, things like your company postcode needs to be accurate – as this is used to create a map of your location or locations and to give people directions to where your training venues are at. If we already hold your company information in our database, you might notice that some of your company information may already show up on this page when you login for the first time and should there be any inaccuracies these are, of course, completely editable.

Going back to the main screen, the next feature I would like to show you is the User Manager. As mentioned previously, all premium admin partners have the ability to create and assign additional users to their account. If I click the user manager tab here you can already see Mr Head Administrator showing as the only company administrator at this time. But lets just assume you have some additional staff who also need to administer and manage your training courses on a day to day basis but you dont want them to go wild and create additional users themselves or have access to your sensitive financial info. Simple, as a tier 3 admin you can assign someone a new admin account via the “add administrator” link here and they will be able to create training dates, add or edit your venues and set up new training courses. They wont however be able to see or edit anything else. Once you have added the details of this new admin and set their tier level, they’re just about good to go. For this demonstration I am going to create a tier 1 admin on the sample company account and I am going to call him Frank Smith. So, I set up his login name (preferably his full name), create him a password, add in his email address and his phone number. And that’s about it. Currently the only difference between a tier 1 and tier 2 admin is that tier 2 admins have a few additional privileges such as they can see and edit your “company profile” page. Once you’ve completed all the fields and hit the add button, you’ll then be returned to the user manager page where you can now see this new tier 1 admin I just created in all his glory. Remember, only a tier 3 admin can see and edit the details within this user manager page and there are also some other important additional features to note on this page. First up, the new admin you have just created is not live yet until you make him “enabled”. This “yes/no” click on, click off feature is to allow you full control, temporary or otherwise, over your various company admins and their login credentials. Once you have made any admin “enabled” they then have access to your account and he or she will receive a welcome email from us informing them of how to log in etc. The other important factor to note on this page is this “main” column here. In simple terms, making any admin on your account the “main” admin by changing his status from “no” to “yes” makes them the “main” contact on your account – i.e. they become that person who our other premium partners can contact. Typically, your “main” admin should be that person responsible for accepting incoming communication or the person responsible for the accounts. New Admin…. Now that Ive created Mr Smith as the 2nd administrator on the Sample Company account, let me log out and log back in as him to show you the differentials that exist between our various admin tiers.

Now that I’m logged back in as our newly created administrator Mr Smith, you can see his name printed here in the welcome message together with his access level – as is the case for all tier 1 admins, these are called “Training Managers” and you’ll notice that some of the tabs that were once displayed before for the Premium Administrator have now disappeared and Mr Smith can only see the my venues, my courses and training manager tabs. But lets put Frank to work and begin managing this account from his access level. What any training company needs first of all are some locations in order to conduct training and we obviously dont know where they are until you create them. So lets go ahead and create one for Sample Company and let me show you how simple it really is. If I click the “My Venues” tab right here I’m all set to create a new fixed training venue for Sample Company. As usual, its a reasonably straightforward process and if I click the “Create new venue” button I am then presented with a number of fields and drop down options. The “Title” field shown here at the top is simply the name you want to give to this venue. People use terms like head office, or the town where this venue is at or perhaps you might like to use an in-house term or reference for this location. I’m going to call my venue “Southampton”, after which I then need to select from a series of associated geographical based labels. The 1st of these is the TV region where my training venue is at. The reason we need the TV region is because it helps with our user search on the front end of the site. For instance, someone looking for training in a particular town or other might be disappointed if we try to match their request exactly to a specific town whereas, if we broaden their search to include the TV region, one of our partners might then gain a new client if a venue say 15miles from a clients preferred location actually turns out to be near enough. The other reason why we use the ITV TV regions is because everyone knows in what TV region they are currently in, regardless that it might not be their home town. Anyway, for this example I know that my Southampton venue is in the Meridian TV region, the Town is Southampton and the postcode im going to use is SO14 0SP. I also have a field here to include the road or building; and once I’ve added this and hit the “create venue” button, this venue is now live. Its important to note that this venue is only available for Sample Company and its admins and no other premium partner will have access to the venue I just created. In other words, venues are unique to each partner. The number of venues each premium partner may have is again, like the user manager, unlimited. Some of our partners may have just the one training venue whereas others could have several hundred. The column here to the right labelled “show” is another of the click on / click off features you have as an option on the venue page. Show “yes” means that this venue is active and available to be selected as a training location, show “no” and its not. This is in the case that one of my venues is temporarily unavailable for whatever reason and I dont wish any of my admins to create any training dates here. Its also important to note that I only have to do this venue creation process once for each training venue and after a venue has been created for the first time it can then be chosen as a training venue when making a new course date.

So, we’ve created an additional administrator on the sample company account and also created a location to do our training, lets now make some courses. Creating a new training course type is simple and only has to be done the once for each training course you operate. The training courses your company provides are administered and edited here under the “My Courses” tab. I then click the “Create new course type” button and Im ready to create my first course type. Title and description fields are fairly self explanatory, for the description you might want to include the course joining instructions or some relevant course content. You might also want to include any qualifications that the delegates might acquire through their successful completion of the training. The link to additional information might be a link to some other content from your own website or perhaps to a governing body website such as the HSE. We also require each training course type to be categorised and sub categorised so that we can accurately display the course to a visitor that might be browsing the site by category. For this demonstration, I am going to create a PASMA Scaffold Tower Training course and paste in here the details and course joining instructions ive cribbed from my own website. I’m also going to link back to my own website where the visitor might obtain some more course information. Scaffold tower training i categorise under health and safety and under the “working at height” sub category. And thats it. This course type is now complete and I make it live in the system by simply hitting the “create new course” button here. Showing now under the my “course type manager” this course is available to select when creating a new training date and, similar to the venue manager, I can now show this course or not to my fellow admins by editing the course status to yes or no under the “show” column. From this page I can now go and create a new course type or go back to the main training menu page.

Now I seemingly have all my ducks in a row, I have a location and a training type, I can now set up my first training date. If I go to the training manager main tab right here at the top left of the page you’ll notice that currently the page looks a little sparse. This is because I neither have any training course dates of my own to display or any alliance partners aligned with my company. More on how to create relationships with our other alliance partners in detail on the Premium Alliance video that follows this one but, for now, I just want to create some courses of my own and get these out there on the Internet so that people can begin seeing them and hopefully start booking them up. To create a new training date, I go to “Add Training Course” here and am presented with a bunch of drop down choices appropriate to a new training date I wish to create. You’ll notice that the training type and venue options are displaying the venue and course type I created a few moments ago. If I had created multiple training venues and/or course types these would all print as options here. However, you’ll remember that I only created the one course type and venue so these are the only ones I have available to select from. Regardless of which, I am going to create a new course date and I’m going to randomly choose the 25th November 2009. I then select my venue and course type, PASMA training in Southampton. Next I have to set the delegate rate and the wholesale rate. The first one “delegate rate” is that price which you yourself would charge to a single person who wishes to attend the training. Wholesale rate however is slightly different and this is that price that you would be willing to sell the training on a per person basis to other premium partners you are aligned with on our site. For example, I am creating a PASMA course in Southampton for the 25th of November. I may sell 5 delegates places on this training course whereas I do in fact have space for 12. In order to keep things fair and reasonable, the wholesale rate must be at least 80% or less than the delegate rate so that your premium partners buying this training from you have a reasonable incentive and margin to make a profit themselves. So Im going to set my delegate rate for this training at £175 and the wholesale rate at £125. i.e. I intend to sell this training to my own customers at £175 per person and I am willing to sell this training at £125 wholesale. And thats about it. Now I have everything set I now just have to hit submit to make this course live. Back on the training manager page I can see this course displayed. In the Premium Allaince video presentation we will explain more about how editing and managing courses work and how to work seamlessly with our other premium alliance partners. For now, let me assure you that now this new course date is live, it is immediately being distributed across hundreds of pages and websites on the internet.

The last thing I want to show you in this introduction to the XYZ premium training alliance is how we distribute your training courses on your behalf and where we and others in our network display them to hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. First of all, during the course of this introduction you might have noticed this link here at the top right hand side of the page which is displaying a link to something called the “Sample Company Website” and “the information my visitors see”. This unique page is something that we automatically create for all our alliance partners and its what we call our white label website feature. In plain speak, a white label website is something that has little or no branding and can therefore be used completely as a website in its own right. You might want to frame your white label website as a sub page on your own website or indeed direct the traffic from a domain name you own to this white label site and get, for all intense and purposes, a fully functioning website for free. On each white label website we print all the partner information you give us, from your head office address and map of your location to the various course types and live course information you have available. See here how we display Sample Companies own unique custom data, logo and all the information I just added to the site on their behalf. See here also underneath, the training course I just created. Your visitors can click the more info link of any course you have included, discover where this course is being held (if it differs from your head office address), check the available places and even book and pay online. If we receive an enquiry or order on your behalf we immediately email you the details. We also print and distribute both your company information and your active training courses across the front end of the XYZ.co.uk website. Let me show you. In a similar manner to your white label site, how each partner on XYZ also has their own unique page. Visitors can view the course information, see a detailed map of where the training is being carried out and get directions on how to get there. Again, users can book online, go direct to you themselves or pay us through our site using our secured payment gateway or via other payment sites such as Paypal or Google Checkout. Your training courses will also be distributed in our new weekly email to any subscribers that have asked to be kept up to date with latest course availability.

I briefly mentioned the XML tab earlier when I was demonstating the differentials between the admins and their access levels. The XML feature is also explained in a great more detail on the Premium Alliance video – however what the XML feature does in short is enable the mass distribution of the live training courses from our system to other websites, networks and affiliates, thus giving even more distribution and exposure for you and your training courses. In conclusion to this introduction video allow me to briefly show an example of where the PASMA training course I just created for Sample Company is already being shown. As you can see, this partner is printing the XYZ live course information on his own site, including that PASMA training course I created on XYZ.co.uk a few moments ago. The beauty of XYZ being that everyone is working on the same platform and using the same live information and all at the same time. I thank you for viewing this video and in anticipation that your participation in our Premium Training Alliance proves as beneficial to you as we hope.

XYZ presentation

Just begun creating an online presentation for prospective premium and gold alliance partners. The video presentations are starting to appear – but just incase anyone wants to see the script, here it is:

Intro

Welcome to 1plus.net digital media and our latest offering which we are calling the XYZ training alliance. XYZ.co.uk (a domain name which may change) is an exciting new website that can be summarised as being something that will power and bring together the programs, courses and locations of selected training companies and use the latest digital knowhow to enable effective and mass distribution. A completely custom, unique and new online platform that is feature rich, comprehensive and scalable to a very high level. The XYZ project will act as the engine, the hub, distributer, communicator and marketeer for training companies and their respective training courses. The visitor experience is designed to be simple and easy to use, whilst remaining completely informative and transparent to all. So, welcome to XYZ.co.uk – The Training Alliance. Why the name XYZ? well, we needed a name that was generic enough to cover multi training disciplines and, perhaps more importantly, be completely unforgettable as brand.

Premium Alliance Features

* Alliance of training companies – similar to the “One World” Airline Alliance

The most simplistic way of describing our premium alliance program is to align it with the One World Alliance of Airlines. For those unfamiliar with the one world alliance, here British Airways, Quantas, Air France, US airways and other airlines sell seats seamlessly on each others flights. I guess when an airline doesnt have enough passengers of their own to fill a plane individually, the airlines instead run a single flight and fill the remaining seats with other airlines passengers – thus giving better utilisation and additional income without any cost. A seat is better filled than it is empty. This is what the XYZ premium alliance intends to emulate for training businesses. Much like the “One World Alliance”, XYZ will give training companies greater distribution, additional locations, the ability to accept low delegate numbers and additional income without actually providing the training themselves.

* Central Course Management Suite

As mentioned in the introduction, XYZ intends to be all things to all men and central to this is our completely custom course management suite. Here partner administrators can manage every element of their training offerings. From their fixed locations and course types, to the dates and course notes applicable to any given course. The central course management suite is designed to be flexible and simple to use – yet powerful enough to work on a set of rules specific to that partner. The course management suite can provide users with simple and self explanatory useage, right up to highly technical use, integration and drilled down reporting.

* Consistent ‘Live’ status for all members

Being a single course management suite, every premium partner will work to the same, live environment. From our experience, nothing is more frustrating than taking an enquiry for training and being able to place those delegates at that time, only for that course to become unavailable during the time it takes for the client to make their mind up. Here’s where all premium partners working on the same platform comes into its own. In the very same way flight booking system works, a training course is only reserved or booked once the confirmation screen is displayed.

* Real time reporting and reminder assistance

The key factor in ensuring training happens when it should and that everyone is kept in the loop is in our real time reporting and reminder assistance. In essence what this means is whatever change to whatever booking happens, this gets remotely reported to both the owner of the course (i.e. the company hosting it) and the alliance partner making the booking. Changes to bookings are also printed on the course information page. Remote reporting is done automatically via email and/or text SMS and we even go as far as to email the owner of a course several days before the scheduled date to remind them that the course date is looming, inform as to how many delegates to expect and from whom and even to remind them to appoint a trainer.

* Seamless relationship administration

Premium partners can trade and do business on XYZ with whomever they wish and on whatever scale they wish. Only when the relationship between partners is active on both sides will each partner be able see each others courses and book delegate places on each others courses. At any time a partner may activate a new partner relationship or block a company they no longer wish to trade with. Results are immediate.

* Remote admin login

As mentioned, a key feature of XYZ is that everyone is working on the same platform and to the same set of results. This extends to how users can access this information. Alliance partners can log in to their account from any computer, literally anywhere in the world, including being able to view and access a mobile version of the site from a pda or notebook.

* Multiple admin permissions and roles

One key attribute of the partner management suite is our tiered administration feature. For instance, as a premium partner yourself, you may have training managers (on our site called tier 1 admins) who provide the day to day adminstration of your courses and dont need to access to much more than simply adding courses, delegates and creating new locations. The next level called the Administrator level (tier 2) has more access on the site, such as being able to edit your company profile. The highest tier, Premium Administrators (tier 3) have full access to all site features including the partner management and detailed financial information. This tiered admin feature works well for all Premium partners, from small companies with only a handful of employees to national businesses who may need several hundred site administrators.

* Financial reporting, download and filters

Doing business with other training companies tends to break the status quo of how training companies usually work and how their current methods of training is booked and paid for. As a real training company ourselves, we appreciate that what we have created is a novel and new approach to training and therefore needed to work seamlessly and with a multitude of software packages and individual ways of working. We believe our financial suite for Premium Administrators solves this issue. In short, every course bought or sold on our site and to who it is sold is recorded and reported in our financial suite. Partners can drill down into the relationships held with other alliance partners and download the financial information in SAGE friendly CSV format. Partners can also apply a range of filters to obtain the precise financial information they need.

* Technical integration – XML direct server calls and API updates

For advanced users and those particulary web savvy, we have created a common methodology for distributing the live course information to Premium Partners. Perhaps partners may wish to print our live course information on their own website. This distribution is available via ouren XML raw data feed. In reverse, our site will also accept course updates and edits via a site API. Each partner is assigned a unique 32bit encryption key to ensure the site information is secure. The benefits of integrating our XML/API into a Partners own software application or website includes being able to update the XYZ site seamlessly and without having to log on. Being able to distribute course information on an partner owned website that ensures greater exposure. Course information is distributed in a way that completely meets the needs of each individual partner – for instance you may call the data by date, by category, by partner, by region, by town, by course type, whatever – really, the amount of filters that can be applied is endless. Integration documents and assistance is available from us on demand.

* Comprehensive and transparent distribution

During our research phase, we found that the other training portals and directories out there not only made obtaining specific course information difficult, they also kept back most of the pertinant information someone might be looking for. Most importantly, things like who was conducting the training and where it was we found difficult to obtain. We guess they did this to ensure that enquiries remained under the control and ownership of the directory themselves. Our approach is different – holistic and inclusive. Not only do we provide to visitors the precise location, date and time of each course, but we also inform the visitor exactly which Premium Alliance partner is carrying out the training. Visitors can then book and pay via us or go direct to the provider. In addition, we also distribute (using the same XML available to every partner) the training courses across hundreds of wholly owned other training websites we operate. For partners without an internet platform or for those without a strong internet presence we even automatically create for each partner a white label (unbranded) website for their business. The white label sites are provided completely free of charge. Anyway, lets get started

Development Nearly Ended

sellThe XYZ development team are almost at a stage where the main development is drawing to an end.

Currently we’re finishing off the white label websites for our training providers and building a Google API map to show multiple course locations by training module – so visitors have an easy way of finding the venue nearest to them.

Some backend changes are pending in so much that we only want providers to see the courses and course categories that relate to them. After all, theres no point showing health and safety training courses to someone who is buying and selling computer related training.

Really happy last week to see the process of displaying and advertising training companies linked with their ability to sign up and take ownership of their business advertising.

Next up are the demonstration videos and instructions that show and inform training companies how easy it is to use our platform to sell their training courses.

Not long now..!

White Label Websites

Great news to wake up to today, every provider who has created an account with us gets their own website. Completely white label (no branding) and completely free of charge. Transparent as with everything we do, every provider in our system gets a site such as this one – http://www.xyz.co.uk/my_website/speedy-training-16.html to show to their customers or point their domain name too or simply use as their website.

white-labelBeing that our white label websites are possibly more functional than a lot of websites out there means that training companies can have a completely free website with full functionality at no cost to them whatsoever. White label websites can also act as a backup to their own system perhaps.

Anyhow, whatever way people want to use this feature is fine by us.

Already we’ve been asked what possibly is the point of all this white label stuff…

Ok, lets say you own your own company domain name or webname and havent done anything with it yet. Worse still, someone has done something with it and that something is not very good – here’s where the white label from xyz.co.uk comes in. First of all, find your own company white label website created by XYZ.co.uk. At the top of your web browser is the address bar (this is the box at the top of the page that starts http://www.xyz……) Now, with your mouse highlight all the text in that box – it will look something like this ( http://www.xyz.co.uk/my_website/speedy-training-16.html ) – now click your right hand mouse button and select copy (you may alternatively use ctrl-C). Now, go to where you purchased your  domain name. This will be somewhere like 1&1.co.uk e.g. Login with the information they provided to you and find the area where you manage your domain settings. Select the option that is giving you the “URL Frame” settings for your domain.  Now, paste the text you copied from xyz.co.uk in the field they provide – For paste, click the URL frame settings box and right hand mouse click – paste. Save these settings.

So what will all that do? Ok, what this will do is ensure that everytime someone comes to your domain name, they will see your XYZ white label website. Because you are URL framing the XYZ website means that your own domain will be picked up by the search engines and listed in its own right. How good is that?!?!? :D
