Who Should Attend?
All personnel required to operate an Industrial Counterbalance Lift Truck.
Duration:
5 days, this depends on the number of candidates and the ratio of candidates / machines per Instructor. Foundation course includes 1 Day Module 2 Health & Safety Course.
Aim
Provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating the Industrial Counterbalance Forklift.

* An Introduction to the Construction Industry
* Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
* Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations
* Other current relevant regulations
* Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
* Introduction to machine
* Pre – shift inspections
* Components and main types of lift trucks
* Controls and instruments
* Re – fuelling systems
* Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems
* Driving on / off ramps
* Emergency controls
* Handling loaded / unloaded pallets and difficult shaped loads
* Operators safety code
Knowledge
By the end of the course delegates will be able to
* Operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and accepted good practice.
* Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
* Load and unload vehicles and static racking.
* Understand the causes of instability of the truck and loads.
* Have an understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & other current relevant legislation.
Additional Information
Eligible companies are able to claim grants for this training, which will pay for a substantial amount if not all of the training costs, as this course is CITB approved for grant purposes.
