Who Should Attend?

All personnel required to drive a Forward Tipping Dumper.

Duration:

3 days, this depends on the number of candidates and the ratio of candidates / machines per Instructor. Foundation course includes 1 Day Module 2 Health & Safety Course.

Aim

Provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating a Forward Tipping Dumper.

Content

* An Introduction to the Construction Industry
* Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
* Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations
* Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
* Other current relevant regulations
* Introduction to machine
* Pre – shift inspections
* Controls and instruments
* Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems
* Driving loading and unloading

Knowledge

By the end of the course delegates will be able to

* Operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and accepted good practice.
* Understand the causes of instability of the truck and the load.
* Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
* Operate safely under varying site conditions.
* Position the vehicle for loading from and dumping into excavations etc..
* Have an understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & other current relevant legislation.

Additional Information

Eligible companies are able to claim grants for this training, which will pay for a substantial amount if not all of the training costs, as this course is CITB approved for grant purposes.
